Walk the line between love and assertiveness. Classroom managment yields an environment of respect and fairness. Meet students where they are. Differentiate. Scaffold skills so that students have the chance to master skills before advancing to the next skill level. Skill progression should yield mastery, confidence, and motivation.
Avoid them. Every teacher whose heart is in the game is a award-winning, in my opinion. We shouldn't be competitive with each other.
