TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 11 years of experience teaching 4th grade. I have taught first grade for one year. I am presently teaching 3rd grade. I have also taught summer literacy for grades k-4 during summer for 5 years. I homeschooled my own two children for the majority of their school years, so I have experience in the public school arena as well as the homeschool environment.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am very "hands-on" in my classroom. I try to make learning as interesting and engaging as possible.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was chosen as the "Green Apple" during my 3rd year of teaching.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have 2 masters degrees. The first is in k-6 education and the second is in Educational Leadership. I also have an EdS in Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have been married for 30 years, to the love of my life. I have two sons who are very deep thinkers, with creative minds. We have an arctic fox, three black-tailed prairie dogs, two ground squirrels, one prevost squirrel, and five Patagonian Maras. I have raised my boys to be curious, and I tell my students "You must first be confused before you can be curious." This way they know they are not expected to understand everything from the beginning, because if they already knew everything, there would be nothing to be curious about. It makes them more comfortable with making mistakes.
