TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching 6th grade World Geography since September 2020 in the same district. Starting my teaching career in a pandemic was difficult, but forced me to focus on the outcomes and crucial information that I needed to provide for my students, and to cut the fluff. Not only has this allowed me to create a learning space driven by inquiry and reflection, but also made a world of a difference when modifying for a growing ESL population.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I enjoy taking an inquiry-based approach, and being the guide on the side, not the sage on the stage. I enjoy scaffolding activities and questions in discussions for the students to arrive to my desired outcomes through analysis, instead of passively listening. The most important part of teaching for me is making sure that everyone in the classroom is being met where they are. To me, this means being able to access the information, whether that be through modifications, translations, various methods of support and so on.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I grauduated from Ramapo College in 2020 with a B.A. in History and a K-12 Teaching Certificate. During my second year of teaching, I enrolled at Florida International University where I got my Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction Design in August of 2022.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Aside from being a classroom teacher, I enjoy being a volleyball and lacrosse coach.
