TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught Japanese for 38 years at Iolani School, a private school in Honolulu, Hawaii. In the past, I have served as the Foreign Language Department Head and, at present, I am the Japanese Language Division Head of six teachers. My other role in school is that of a Mentor Program Coordinator for which I am responsible to match new teachers to the Upper School (gr. 7-12) with a veteran teacher, and head in-house professional development for joint meetings between these members.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in interactive fun activities and games to keep students constantly engaged in their learning. I use the eclectic style of teaching and have about six different activities in a 41-minute period.
