I've taught music at all scholastic levels for over thirty years. My educational travels have taken me from Wales to England, then a Royal Air Force base in Cyprus, and on to Nashville, Tennessee, where most recently I taught middle school music at a private school for students with learning differences. I homeschooled my children for a couple of years while transitioning between states. I've also played music (predominantly trumpet and drums) on the professional circuit. Most recently, I'm taking a leave of absence to focus on individual musical teaching, prepare instructional support resources for fellow music teachers, and write my second novel.
Exploration. Curiosity. Enjoyment. These are the key words on which I base my enablement and support of learning. I don't necessarily consider myself a teacher of music, but an advocate for experiential learning. My job is to support students and teachers to become better at creating, performing, responding to, and connecting with music.

I was born on the Isle of Wight, a small island south of the British mainland, before moving to Hampshire when I was 2 years old. I began playing trumpet, piano, drums, and whatever else I could lay my hands on at 11 years old. I've played in marching bands, rock bands, wind bands, jazz bands, orchestras, and a vast number of small ensembles. I studied music and teaching in Wales before moving to Kent, where I taught the entire curriculum and coordinated the teaching of music and language arts across the entire school. in 2000, I was appointed Deputy Headteacher of RAF Akrotiri Primary School in Cyprus. in 2002 I moved to the United States of America and taught individual music lessons while raising my sons. In 2019, I returning to music and theatre classroom teaching at Currey Ingram Academy, a school for students with learning differences. I live in Nashville, Tennessee, with two teenage sons, a Yorkshire Terrier named Jackson, and two cats named Zoe and Suki. My passions are music and writing.
