TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Nearly 30 years in a Catholic School, teaching computer technology, creative writing (including poetry and journal writing), art, historical research, and library science. Two years on a daily newspaper as a feature writer and daily beat reporter. Published author in children's magazines. Editor of monthly newsletter. Academic Team coach for 20 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to teach a skill then give students a chance to put their own creative spin on a project that tests those skills. I love to see a student's own amazement at what they can produce.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Won a teacher of the year award in my parish's diocesan school. Have been awarded 3 grants to expand my school's educational offerings. Won a state award in reporting while I worked on a daily newspaper.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Graduated summa cum laude from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and minor in English. 345 credit hours in computer technology accumulated over the past eight years.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Amateur artist and photographer. Hobbies of camping, hiking, gardening and reading. Have visited over 40 U.S. National Park units. Usually read about 5 books a week. Favorite place to read - my backyard hammock. Future plans include travel across the U.S. and hopefully Europe. I believe eccentrics have more fun and live longer - that's for me!
