I have taught for the last 25 years including many years teaching a 4/5 GATE combo class, teaching English in Japan for a year and k-5 regular ed. Also, I have been the GATE coordinator, lead teacher, master teacher for student teachers, member of my school site council and PLC committee member for my school for several years.

I like to use cooperative learning, educational games, student leaders, flexible groupings, note taking, AVID strategies, and close reading.

I believe all students can learn at the highest levels if they wish to. Our job as educators is to get them to that point by instilling in them a love of learning and an understanding of how important it is to them personally. Then we need to provide them with the resources they need to succeed.
