I am a contract lecturer at the University of Louisville, teaching Biology 102. I have taught high school science at a Montessori school, been a teaching assistant for pharmacy students, and tutored undergraduates. I tutored Biostatistics, Latin, Biology, and Chemistry at the University of Louisville Resources for Academic Achievement (REACH) Learning Resources Center for three years. I received my PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Kentucky. Specifically, I study drug development, coding, statistical analysis, and safety regulations.
My favorite technique is to ask students, “Why not...?” If students can explain why something can’t happen the way it doesn’t, they gain an intuitive understanding of the way that nature and natural laws work. In mathematical work, I like to present the same problem from multiple perspectives, so that students learn that there are many correct ways to understand and solve a problem, and that math is a very personal subject.
