I just completed my 21st year teaching in Henderson, Nevada. Throughout those years I've taught 8th-10th grade ELA. My most recent assignment is video production and film studies. I am in my fifth year of teaching all levels of those subjects. This, I found is my passion. I lead my students in producing daily announcements which we publish on YouTube. My students are beginning to enter into film festivals and are even using their videos for college applications. During my after-school hours, I coach color guard and have helped to develop one of the most competitive and highest-scoring guards in Nevada! I enjoy all aspects of my job but am looking forward to helping other teachers by creating materials that can be used to enhance their multimedia classrooms.
My teaching style is fluid due to the nature of our profession. I've most recently been focusing on blended learning as there was an immediate need for it this past year and a half. I'm working to find ways for my lessons to work both in person and through distance learning. All of my lessons are geared for both scenarios.

BS in Education with an emphasis in comprehensive English education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas MEd. in Educational Technology from Grand Canyon University Additional higher education credits through Touro University with the focus of co-teaching, special education, and methods to accommodate all students.
I have a genetic eye degenerative disease called cone dystrophy. I've been dealing with the effects of non age-related macular degeneration since my early 30's. Recently I've had to give up driving and digitize all student assignments so I can see them for grading.. That being said, all of my lessons, activities, and units are high-contrast for ease of viewing. I went through school not being able to see the board, and most of my adult life not being able to see material presented on projection screens because of glare among many other reasons, so I want to make sure my students don't struggle for accessibility reasons. My goal is to make the most of my career until I decide to retire. I find with teaching that I get what I put in and that alone is inspiration to continue improving my methods and teaching materials.
