I have taught middle school social studies for two years and high school social studies for five years. In addition, I teach a dual credit Political Science class (my students earn both high school and college credit for this course).
My classroom is inviting, warm, and business-like. I try to build strong relationships with all of my students. I enjoy mixing up my instructional strategies. Oftentimes, my students will take the lead in my room through discussions, debates, panels, fishbowls, and socratic seminars. At its core, the purpose of social studies is to make students better citizens. I think they get a heavy dose of civil discourse in my classroom!
