I have 26 years experience as an Elementary Teacher. I have taught in a fourth grade classroom for 7 years, and am currently teaching Title Reading for grades PK-4. I have team taught reading and math in grades 2-4 for several years. I also am the ESL coordinator and teacher for PK-12. I coordinate the Title Reading program in our school and lead the Family Fun and Family Reading nights for our district. I have been a teacher mentor for over 10 years.

As a Title Teacher, I believe in direct, explicit instruction and immediate feedback. I want my kids to experience learning as fun as to encourage them to become better readers! So we practice reading using various games and incentives. Finally, I believe in the balanced approach also, building up successful readers through work on phonemic awareness, phonics, reading comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary.

I recently presented at the Iowa Reading Conference on "Family Fun Nights."

I have a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa with minors in English Language Arts and Reading. I have a English Language Learners endorsement also.
