I taught 13 years as a middle school special education teacher in a resource room, and was then an elementary math curriculum specialist/coach for 10 years. I returned to the classroom 13 years ago, and now, in my 36th year, teach advanced mathematics in a middle school setting at a STEM school.
I use real-world application daily and believe that students must be able to make connections between what they are learning in the classroom and what happens in the real world. I also incorporate game play regularly, as my students love a good competition.
