I've taught 6th through 12th grade English for the past six years.
I use a project-based learning approach and attempt to get my students involved in hands-on work that engages them in critical problem solving. I try to provide them with opportunities to see how their work connects them to the outside world, and believe that school and real life should look more alike.
I'm on the advisory board for SXSWedu, and presented on Design Thinking the Humanities in 2014. I'm also a PBS LearningMedia Lead Digital Innovator for 2015 for my use of digital media in the classroom. I present frequently on design thinking and project based learning in education.
I graduated with my Bachelor's from Clemson University in South Carolina in 2010, and am currently pursuing my Master's in Learning Design and Technology from Purdue University.
