I've taught for 11 years at an inner city school in South Central Los Angeles, and have enjoyed the challenges and rewards that come with the calling as an educator. Throughout these years, I've worked as an English Department Chair, an English Language Arts team leader, a member of the School Site Council, and a Lead Teacher for our district's new teacher evaluation initiative. These experiences as a leader at my school site have only boosted my determination to not only influence my own classroom with quality instruction, but also to influence students in other classrooms as well.
Engaging project-based learning, culturally relevant literature, acting, fine arts, debates, socratic seminars, iPad technology, Cornell Notes, and other creative ways to access my students' different learning styles.
