TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I teach middle school English Language Arts and English Language Development classes for diverse students of all proficiency levels including newcomers, long term English learners, emergent bilinguals, and ELs included in the co-taught environment. Many of my students are originally from Mexico as well as Puerto Rico. My ELs are navigating two cultures, simultaneously mastering two languages, and developing their Chicanx identity as first, second, and even third generation immigrants in Ohio. Our classroom is a linguistically diverse space with rich learning opportunities that cultivate a love for Latinx cultures and mutual respect for ALL languages. I absolutely love the second language acquisition process, learning about my students' cultures, and have even learned Spanish as a second language to communicate effectively with my students and their families!
