For over 30 years, teaching has been my passion. I taught 10th and 11th grade students in English and American history and later became a school counselor. I eventually decided to homeschool my four children and did so for 20 years. I have been privately teaching English and ACT/SAT prep classes for homeschool and public school students for many years. I am also a practicing Educational Therapist, working with students who have dyslexia and processing issues.
I want every student to leave my office encouraged. My goal is to break down the reading process into learnable parts, so that students confidently grow in their ability to read with greater fluency and comprehension. Learning strategies are the key to cognitive development, so I use many multi-sensory techniques. There is a strategy for every type of question on the ACT/SAT. I love teaching students the skills, tips and tricks necessary to master the test and gain confidence in their test-taking ability.
I experienced my shining moment when I graduated my first homeschooler and sent him to college.
