I've taught SPED 3-6 at the start of my career. I've been teaching 3rd grade (self-contained) since 2011. In 2018, I became an ELA blocked 3rd grade teacher. In 2023, I began to teach Social Studies. ELA: LearnZillion's Guidebooks SS: Louisiana's Bayou Bridges and Louisiana state framework
I try my best to treat every child as if they were my own. I want my "kids" to be treated exactly how I want my own children to be taught. I love to encourage them to try their best and watch their "light-bulb" moments when they succeed! I enjoy rewarding them in a positive way. My classroom has a Candy Land theme with lots of bright colors to create a positive atmosphere. Students earn gumball stamps on a reward chart for accomplishing goals. At the end of the week, my students get to spin a wooden lollipop for a chance to win a prize out of my Sweet Shop (stick erasers, chocolate bar erasers, smelly pencils, coupons etc.). Mrs. Brunet's class is so sweet!
