I have 8 years of teaching experience and have had the pleasure of teaching first, second, and third grade. I was able to experience teaching some of the same students for three years in a row in first, second, and third grade! I am currently an assistant principal at an elementary school and have been for five years now. I also am a member of CLASS, which means I regularly observe our local pre-k classrooms to make sure they are following standards.
In my classroom I strive to make sure my students are collaborating and learning from one another. My students are seated in groups and have to cooperate in order to complete projects in my class. My students also work independently, but know that their classmates as well as myself are always by their side to encourage and help when needed. I believe that parents, teachers, and students should work together and communicate often to ensure the success of the students. Parents and teachers play a very important role in students' lives.
During the 2012-2013 school year I was selected as Teacher of the Year. I can not begin to describe the excitement I felt when I received this award. I am a member of the Louisiana Association of Principals.
I have a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction Early Childhood as well as an Ed.S. in Leadership. My next goal in my educational career is to earn my Ph.D.I am always eager to learn something new that will help make my students successful in my classroom. My dream is to one day become an instructional specialist that can help inspire teachers within their classrooms.
I have been married to my husband Mark for 10 years now and we have 2 beautiful little girls. We enjoy traveling and the outdoors life. Bryleigh and Briar are full of energy and keep us busy in our daily lives. .
