When my sister was born with Down Syndrome, 10 years ago, I knew she was special. I have dedicated the last 10 years ensuring that she not only had a quality education, but that all of her potential was maximized. As a result of my experiences with Esther, I have seen first hand how inclusion in the classroom, benefits all the students whether they are special needs or not. As I worked in a variety of classrooms, I observed that the techniques that were successful in educating Esther were successful with all children.
Bnos Esther Malka is primarily an all hands-on, play-based program. The children lead the day and the teachers follow along. From time to time, our children do a work sheet or two to help them visualize a skill. Here you will find some sheets that helped our students with academic success.

My educational journey started with my sister. I was in school for the arts and graduated with a BA in Photography. Every teacher I had taught us we needed to be creative. And so I was. I looked at my sister as a blank slate. A unique individual with endless possibilities. I believe she was like me. A starving artist who can learn and do anything. From the day she was born until today, she, and the rest of my students teach me how to be a better teacher and person.
