With a decade of experience as a dedicated special education and alternative education teacher, I have been committed to empowering students who have not yet achieved grade 6 competencies by age 15. My primary objective has always been to equip them with the necessary skills and competencies for future employment, while nurturing their development as engaged citizens capable of leading enriched lives. In my classroom, the focus has consistently been on fostering social and emotional learning among at-risk students. Recognizing that success extends beyond academic achievements, I have implemented morning meetings as a means to cultivate a supportive and inclusive environment. Additionally, I have incorporated career exploration activities, allowing students to envision their future paths and set meaningful goals. Individualized learning has been a cornerstone of my approach. Understanding that each student possesses unique strengths and challenges, I have embraced diverse instructional methods to ensure that all learners can actively engage with the curriculum. By tailoring lessons to their individual needs, I have strived to instill a love for learning and ignite their curiosity. My unwavering dedication to social and emotional growth, coupled with personalized instruction and career exploration, has empowered my at-risk students to thrive academically and beyond. I remain steadfast in my commitment to shaping their educational experiences and lives positively, one student at a time.

The inspiration behind Billy's Books stems from a decade of experience as a special education and alternative education teacher. Working closely with students who had not reached grade 6 competencies by age 15, my goal was to equip them with the skills for employment and an enriched life.
