MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that teaching is about providing experiences that: develop skills, knowledge and practices that will support the learner in a world of constant change. I encourage and provide opportunities for critical and creative thinking, problem solving, calculated risk taking and ownership of ideas. This is achieved by valuing the ideas and input of the learner and the families and communities they come from. Demonstrated ability to create programs that promote learning experiences and environments that encourage students to develop an understanding of how they learn and how they can utilise and expand the PYP essential elements ( Skills, knowledge, action, concepts and attiudes) into new environments. Commitment to using quality children’s literature in class activities to enrich and support learning experiences and class inquiries and units of study. Commitment to using practices that develop, enhance and support children’s literacy and language understandings, attitudes, skills and practices. A belief and commitment to embedding learning experiences, where possible, in the interests of the students to ensure developed skills, knowledge and practices are relevant and meaningful. Demonstrated ability to utilise a variety of teaching, learning models and practices to provide supportive, challenging and innovative learning experiences.
