I am a young music educator that has been able to thrive in some of the best and worst environments imaginable. Before I began work at my current district, I worked as the only band director for a very small, poor school district for two years. While there, I faced many obstacles. These obstacles were a trial by fire that taught me how to be resourceful and manage my time effectively. Despite all of the challenges, I was able to help that band program achieve the most success that it had in a decade, raising scores at contest, and establishing a sense of family within the band. As of now, I am a band director at a young band program in East Texas. Although the program is only in it's fourth year of existence, it has enjoyed tremendous success and growth. I am looking forward to helping the program continue to set a standard of excellence. Although this is my first year there, we have already won various awards, including several placements in the All-Region Band and First Place at the Texas State Renaissance Festival Music Competition.
My teaching style is very hands-on and motivating. I try to present material as efficiently as possible, so that I will have more time to bond with my students during and outside of rehearsals. Although I initially come across a little hardcore, my students quickly realize how much I care for them, and that I only push them because I want them to be successful. Kids are tomorrows leaders, and I want them to be the highest caliber people possible.
