I teach a K-5 classroom of students with moderate to severe autism in a public school. All of the students receive Intensive Interventions for Communication, Socialization, Sensory Integration embedded throughout the school day.
I build relationships with students, seeing them as children first. Learning takes place throughout the day in naturalistic settings using evidence-based practices for students with autism and real-life learning opportunities. Although my students spend most of their time in my classroom, I strive to expose them to the same curriculum regular education students are exposed to, allowing them to have the best opportunity possible for success.
