TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Art Teacher Fusion comprises two dedicated art educators, Amanda and Michele, who have collaboratively merged their insights to craft comprehensive visual art curricula tailored for high school students in grades 9-12. Their curriculum spans various art levels, encompassing Art 1-3 and AP Art & Design. Amanda and Michele initially crossed paths during their time in the Art Education program at Cal State Long Beach. Post-college, Michele ventured into teaching at a private school, instructing students from junior Kindergarten to 8th grade. Simultaneously, Amanda pursued her passion for teaching at the high school level. After several years in elementary education, Michele seized an opportunity to transition to high school teaching, ultimately landing a position at the same school where Amanda was already teaching. Together, Amanda and Michele bring a wealth of experience, boasting over 15 years in the field of art education. Their collaborative efforts involve bouncing ideas off each other to construct a robust and inclusive art curriculum catering to diverse learning styles.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Our curriculum revolves around a project-based approach. Each unit is structured to include key components such as vocabulary exploration, art history/cultural presentations, teacher-led demonstrations with active student participation, the actual production of artworks, and comprehensive assessment. In our commitment to align with 21st-century learning principles, we aim to make our lessons technologically friendly. Students gradually progress towards project completion by engaging in activities within their personal sketchbooks. These sketchbooks serve as a dynamic space where students glue in worksheets, take notes, create thumbnail sketches, and conduct practice and experimentation to enhance their artistic skills.
