I began my teaching career as a kindergarten teacher. After graduate work I taught for many years as a reading specialist, then as a gifted support teacher. I am now a university professor, preparing others to become early childhood educators.

The highest degree I have attained is a Ph.D. I hold teaching certificates in early childhood education, elementary education (grades 1-8), reading (K-12), and Gifted Child Education (K-12). My M.Ed. is in Reading and the focus of my Ph.D. work was in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Gifted Education.
I am the author of a series of picture books: The Adventures of Annie Mouse. The books evolved from my personal experiences as an early childhood teacher and a mother and focus on social-emotional growth and encourage family communication.
