TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a teacher since 2001, having worked in eight different schools in two states (four different districts). With each teaching experience, I picked up on new pedagogical techniques, including literacy strategies, critical thinking protocols, writing approaches, and more. I am certified in ELA 7-12 and in Social Studies 7-12, and I served as an Instructional Coach for two years at a middle school. Currently, I am back in the classroom, experimenting with new techniques and technology in a 1-1 blended learning environment.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe every class can (and should) incorporate literacy into their daily practice. In my classroom, we focus on three areas: reading, writing, and speaking, using the content as a vehicle. My classroom is student-centered, question-driven, and an environment where collaboration is apparent and feedback is frequent and welcomed.
