The 2019-2020 school year will be my sixteenth year of teaching. I have dabbled in first, second, and third grades over the course of my career, but the majority of my experience has been spent in second grade (thirteen years).

I use a lot of small group instruction and partner work. I believe that students learn best when they are working together and the teach acts as a facilitator.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

In 2004, I earned my BS in Family and Community Services from East Carolina University. In 2005, I completed earning my K-5 Teaching Certification. In 2010 I earned my master's in Elementary Education from East Carolina University. In 2012, I earned National Board Certification in the area of Early Childhood Generalist.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I grew up in Northeastern North Carolina and attended college at East Carolina University upon graduation from high school. I earned my Bachelor's degree, but was still undecided about my career path in life until spending some time volunteering in After School programs. The rest, as they say, is history.
