Been teaching in public schools since 2003! I've always liked to use powerpoints as a means of more efficiently delivering a lesson. Furthermore, my students found a presentation that included media (video/audio clips and photos) to be much more interesting than anything that a textbook could offer. However, working with high-school kids the last couple years, I have found myself having to move away from powerpoints because their interests are geared elsewhere and their attention span seems shorter. So, my new approach is to bombard the students with short activities that do not allow for them to lose interest and focus because something is monotonous. Secondly, I try to provide options (thus giving the students a sense of ownership and choice). I do not have any products that reflect this new style up yet, but hopefully in the near future I will.

2004-2009: In 8th grade American History, the passing rate on the TAKS was on average about 87%. Although that may not seem very high, it is pretty good considering the low-income status of the community and high population of Limited English Proficient (LEP) students (over 60%). 2011-12: Students w/ highest scoring results compared with other teachers World Geo teachers on campus.
