I have been a high school teacher since 2005; teaching Algebra 2, Geometry and AP Calculus BC. I am currently teaching Geometry and Calculus. I've spent countless hours writing lesson plans, revising and inputting the answers. My lesson plan for Algebra 2 includes problems and pivotal questions to guide you through the development of lesson. The lessons also includes the Common Core Standards State Standards for Algebra 2. Geometry lessons plans are all on smart notebook, which has summary questions at the end of the lesson. I have mixed; word file and notebook files lesson for AP Calculus BC. A teacher recommended that I share/sell my lesson plans, so that is what I am trying to do here. These lesson plans should be looked at carefully to make sure it meets the needs of your students and your curriculum. I think it's nice to have a lesson plan to work off of, as I had to write them from scratch. Take a peek! Hope you enjoy them!
I am a big believer in building on students' prior knowledge and self discovery. Through my lessons, students start with concepts that they knew, and draw connections between new and old concepts. I believe that if students can come up with the concepts; or really understand the concepts well, then they can apply them with ease. Mathematics is not just a set of rules that someone made up; the rules came from conceptual understanding that organizes our thoughts into simpler and coherent processes.
