What educators are saying

This was such a wonderful resource that helped my students understand playwriting structure! Thanks!
I used this resource with my hybrid Creative Writing class (half virtual, half face-to-face) as part of a unit on play writing. They loved it, and we made plans with the drama teacher to take the students act out the plays they wrote.

Description

DISTANCE-LEARNING FRIENDLY. REVISED AND UPDATED JULY 2019. This complete, three-week unit plan for teaching a simple, three-scene playwriting structure in any class has been extremely helpful to the many teachers who have purchased it over the past four years, since it debuted in July of 2015. I have been honing the lessons contained in this unit for a decade and a half in my own classes and it is a simple, fun and creative way to teach story structure, character development, and dialogue writing in a simple format. Included in this plan is a teaching guide for developing three-scene plays from the brainstorming phase, through the story development phase, to the dialogue writing phase, all the way to the classroom presentation phase. I also include tips on how to perform the plays once they are completed. Complete student handouts, assessment rubrics, and a sample play are also included in this packet. Acting, theatre, and creative writing students will rejoice in creating their own characters and stories with this flexible format. I hope you enjoy it.
