Texas Symbols Collection: Six Kindergarten Easy Reader Books

The Texas Symbols Collection includes six (6) easy readers for kindergarten students. The books feature popular Texas symbols such as the flag, bluebonnet, and mockingbird. Every reader contains two identical books (one on top, one on bottom) for easy printing and copying. Cut the books in half and staple on the left margin (shaded area).

In February 2022, I updated the readers to include a rebus book as well as a Level D book. The updated collection features three Level A books for students who are at the levels of Rebus (PVM with icons), PVM (Print Voice Match) or RT (Repetitive Text). There is a Level B and Level C book for students at the Emergent level. There is one Level D book for students at the Early Reader level. The books are marked on the covers with a cursive letter. Each book has seven pages (cover and six pages with text).

I use these books in my classroom as part of our Spring Open House. Students read the books to their families; each child is given a book at his or her appropriate reading level. Prior to Open House, students read the books with me in reading group and color the pages.
