Description

This Indigenous (Aboriginal, First Peoples, First Nations) residential school ( or Orange Shirt Day) mini unit is a meaningful printable package that gently teaches residential school history to primary and intermediate students through eight different activities.

Using the book, Stolen Words by Melanie Florence, (unit does not include a digital version of the book), this unit provides an entry level look into residential schools, or could be used as a jumping off point into further inquiries. Alternately it could be used as a stand alone lesson for Orange Shirt Day or National Indigenous Peoples Day (formerly known as Aboriginal Day).

This resource is digital ready and can be easily assigned for distance learning through Google ClassroomTM.
