    This Indigenous residential school orange shirt day unit is a meaningful printable package that gently teaches residential school history to elementary (intermediate) and middle school students through meaningful lessons, art projects, and activities.

    Using the anchor texts such as The Orange Shirt Story, Phyllis's Orange Shirt, Stolen Words, or Orange Shirt Day, (unit does not include digital or audio versions of the books), this unit provides a gentle look into residential school history. Alternately these resources could be used for National Indigenous Peoples Day (formerly known as Aboriginal Day).
