Description

This personal narrative mentor text recounts the true story of a Girl Scout camping trip I will never forget. It includes a checklist to identify the features of a strong narrative story: a hook (introduction), dialogue, sensory details, thoughts/feelings, transition words, and a strong conclusion. Students will be engaged with the story and learn the features of a personal narrative at the same time.

"If I hear that horn one more time, I'm going to throw it in the lake!!" - A quote that provokes laughter among my parents and siblings 20 years later, as we remember what happens when you mix a painfully shy ten year old (me), a strict Girl Scout leader, and a creaky, rusty old bed frame.
