Description

Welcome to the Salad Shaker Project! Students will embark on a journey to design their own delectable salad, learn about the importance of layering ingredients for optimal taste, create a purchase order for their ingredients, and craft a personalized salad shaker complete with a homemade dressing.

Project Description: The Salad Shaker Project is a multi-faceted assignment that encourages students to unleash their culinary imagination while developing essential life skills. Here's what it entails:

  1. Salad Design: Students will design a mouthwatering salad by layering ingredients in the correct order to maximize flavor and nutrition. They will explore a variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, proteins, and other toppings to create a balanced and visually appealing dish.
  2. Purchase Order: Using an editable ingredient list provided by the instructor, students will complete a purchase order for the ingredients needed to assemble their salad.
  3. Salad Shaker Creation: Armed with their chosen ingredients, students will construct their own salad shaker. They will also craft a homemade dressing, experimenting with flavors and textures to complement their salad perfectly.

The project includes a rubric that can be used by judges for grading as well as project instructions and necessary materials.

By engaging in this hands-on learning experience, students will not only develop a deeper appreciation for healthy eating but also gain valuable insights into the art of food preparation and presentation
