Description

SEL daily check-ins & mood meters ALL ABOUT CATS & DOGS!

12 Daily Social Emotional Check-ins with editable questions (easily change to daily journal writing prompts). Great for Morning meeting, Exit Tickets, Advisory, SEL check-ins, PLCs, professional development, community building, summer school, or anytime!

How are you on a scale of...(fill in the option!) is a great activity to check in with students and connect to how they are feeling. It's a Mood-meter that lowers the affective filter and offers a chance for self-reflection.

Students can demonstrate rigor by choosing an image and making thoughtful connections to their state of being that day (or week, or moment!). Students can justify their choices with the Visible Thinking Routine: What makes you say that? We've had great fun with the scales this year.. with both students and adults! (great start to a meeting or grounding in PLC). Whole group, breakout rooms, pair-share partners, SEL self-assessment.

To make the slides even more interactive, you can add the scales to a draggable slide or drawing slide on Peardeck or Nearpod or Seesaw. Each slide also easily uploads as a Jamboard background/ template (or whiteboard.fi / whiteboard.chat). With Jamboard or the other whiteboard platforms, I especially like to have students (or adults) add a sticky note to explain/ justify their choice. This can also be a great prompt to use the Talking Chips cooperative structure to launch student-driven discussions.

Each of the slides are great as writing prompts, also. Edit the question and students may choose an image to launch their writing. Creative Writing, Expository, so forth.
