SEL Animals Check-ins - Bundle Animals sets 1,2, 3, Reptiles, Frogs, & Bugs, Cats & Dogs, Australia animals, Alaska animals! The daily social emotional check-ins are great for morning meeting checking, exit tickets, SEL, community building, PLCs back to school, or anytime! (plus, they are editable, so they can double as daily journal writing prompts).

How are you feeling on a scale of...(fill in the option!) is a great activity to check in with students and connect to how they are, while having fun! It's a Mood-meter that lowers the affective filter.

Students can demonstrate rigor by choosing an image and making thoughtful connections to their state of being that day (or week, or moment!). Students can justify their choices with the Visible Thinking Routine: What makes you say that? We've had great fun with the scales this year.. with both students and adults! (great start to a meeting or grounding in PLC)

To make the slides even more interactive, you can add the animal scales to a draggable or drawing slide on Peardeck or Nearpod or Seesaw. Each slide also easily uploads as a Jamboard background/ template (or whiteboard.fi / whiteboard.chat). With Jamboard or the other whiteboard platforms, I especially like to have students (or adults) add a sticky note to explain/ justify their choice.
