Description

Engage your students in the drama and imagery of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" by creating meaningful masks and throwing a masquerade! Have students create masks after reading Act 1, Scene 2 (when the masquerade is introduced) and before reading Act 1, Scene 5. This assignment included differentiated mask requirements and writing tasks. Choose between having students create a mask and conduct research based upon a character from the text OR have students read the poem "We Wear the Mask" by Paul Laurence Dunbar and have them create a poem and a mask based on teenagers today.

Included in this Listing:

  • Traditional Character Research Mask Assignment
  • Traditional Research Template
  • Honors Poem Mask and Writing Assignment
  • 2 Poem Templates
  • Mask Template Resources
