Description
Uh oh! The wolf has escaped and Peter needs to return him to the zoo - hopefully before grandpa notices! In this fun digital music escape room based on Peter and the Wolf, students will work individually, in teams, or as a class to answer questions related to instruments of the orchestra, dynamics, and high vs low. Can you escape the room in time?
This Peter and the Wolf escape room is designed with young learners in mind, particularly kindergarten and first grade. Students follow a linear path through the Google Slides or PowerPoint - no external links, copying documents, or submitting forms! This room includes 5 multiple-choice questions to help you capture the wolf and send him back to the zoo. The files also include a teacher guide to help you feel comfortable running the game - or even have a parent, IA, or sub run it.
No prep or additional purchases are necessary to use this escape room! Don't worry about buying UV lights, glow-in-the-dark markers, or other oddities - this is a 100% virtual escape room! Simply open the slides, put them in present mode, and get started!
Kids will love interacting with the slides on a tablet, computer, or interactive whiteboard. The slides include sound clips from Peter and the Wolf to remind students of the characters’ themes. Plus, the entire escape room is self-checking; select an answer and reveal whether you were correct! If your answer was incorrect, you’ll have the chance to try again!
Students should be familiar with the following concepts:
- high vs low sounds
- instrument families (instruments of the orchestra)
- some instruments used in Peter and the Wolf (e.g. flute)
- dynamics (piano, mezzo-piano, mezzo-forte, and forte)
- the connection between music and emotions
This escape room is brief enough for young attention spans. The amount of time required to complete the Peter and the Wolf escape room may vary; plan to budget 10-15 minutes of class time. Pair it with movement activities for each of the characters for a fun Peter and the Wolf themed class!
