People of Texas: A Kindergarten Texas History Book

People of Texas is a simple history book that introduces students to historical Texans Stephen F. Austin and Jose Antonio Navarro as well as the diverse people who influenced our state. Students fill in the blanks on the pages using keywords (shared on the answer key). I updated the PDF in March 2021 with a fresh cover page and two new pages to include our Native, Spanish, and Mexican history. I hope these new pages provide teachers and young learners with more perspective on our state. The illustrations in the book were also updated in an artistic sketch style (drawn by me).

I use this book as part of our Texas history unit in the Spring. We work on a page each day and students are encouraged to color and print neatly and add extra details to the pictures. They share the books with their families at the end of our unit.
