Description

This is a great hands-on practice activity after you have taught the basics of counting and spending money. You will need copies of page 2 and 3 of this document for every student or group- this activity can be done individually or in small groups depending on how many Ozobots you have access to.

On the first sheet, students will count the amount of money Ozobot has at each stage- there are 3 times for students to count add amounts of money. Then, students will choose from a store shelf what they will want to purchase. They will draw a line to have Ozobot go to that shelf, and then will be guided to do the subtraction and addition between each time Ozobot goes shopping to figure out how much money he has left. Students will be sure to enjoy this real-world skill practice!

To extend the learning, you can introduce the idea of color codes and have students use the codes to backtrack or direct Ozobot to go a certain direction at intersections. If students have already drawn lines you can use stickers or cut out a small piece of paper, color the code on that paper, and tape it over the black line.
