What educators are saying

This resource has been perfect! My students have been asking to practice them because they enjoyed it so much!
Great resource! I use this in my small group for my students on a lower level! They are starting to get the hang of letter sounds.

Description

The Orton-Gillingham 3-part drill is an essential element of an Orton Gillingham lesson, and these phonogram cards are a fantastic resource for tying in the visual and auditory components as students look at each card while simultaneously saying the name of the phonogram(s), the keyword picture, and the sound it makes (Ex: sh-shoe-/sh/). Cards are 3.5”x5” and print 4 to a page.

This product includes three resources:

1. 3 sets of 120 Phonogram Cards:

  • Set 1- color images with white backgrounds: only keyword picture that coordinates with its phonogram is in full color.
  • Set 2- color images with color backgrounds: all keyword pictures are in full color; consonants are on a turquoise background, vowels are on a pink background, and glued sounds are on a mustard yellow background
  • Set 3- black and white images with white backgrounds: organized into three separate files (consonants, vowels, glued sounds). Each file can be printed using colored cardstock (ideally a similar colored cardstock as the background color on the color phonogram cards

Each of the above sets also comes with a file of single-sided and double-sided phonogram cards. When the double-sided cards are printed (by setting printer to print on both sides of the paper), they will have the phonogram and keyword picture on the front side and just the phonogram on the back side; the single-sided cards only have the phonogram and keyword picture on the one side.

2. Prefix and Suffix Cards: 22 total cards

  • Suffix cards include: -s, -es, -er, -ed, -ing, -est, -en, -ly, -ness, -ment, -ful, -tion, sion as /shun/ and /zhun/
  • Prefix cards include: un-, re-, be-, mis-, dis-, in-, pre-
  • All prefix/suffix cards are in color and black and white

3. At-a-Glance Charts:

  • Alphabet-At-a-Glance: a 1-page quick reference guide containing all of the alphabet phonograms, their keyword pictures, and pronunciation guide for each phonogram
  • Phonograms-At-a-Glance: a 1-page quick reference guide containing the rest of the phonograms, their keyword pictures, and pronunciation guides for each phonogram
  • Both charts come in 3 color options: color images with color backgrounds; color images with white backgrounds; black and white images with white backgrounds

The color phonogram cards are organized in the same order as each phonogram is introduced in the Multisensory Classroom Scope and Sequence HERE.
