Description
These times tables grids or multiplication charts start out with a traditional 10x10 grid that students and teachers are familiar with.
Then, step-by-step, one times table is removed at a time.
I recommend spending a class or mini-lesson on each times table until you feel confident that your students understand how to calculate it.
- 1: one times any number is that number
- 10: add a zero when multiplying by ten
- 2: double a number or count by twos
- 5: count by fives & ends in 5 or 0
- 3: count by threes
- 9: use the nine times finger trick
- 4: double double
This leaves only 6 times table facts left for students
to learn: (6x6, 6x7, 6x8, 7x7, 7x8, and 8x8)
You can print any of the grids for your students to use. If you are confident your student knows their 1 and 10 tables, print them a grid without them so they can challenge themselves to retrieve those facts. This helps students work toward mastery step-by-step!
