Description

This product helps with teaching about Monarch butterflies.

This 2022 photo of a male Monarch butterfly in Idaho provides a great view of a Monarch nectaring on Showy Milkweed. These beneficial pollinators depend on milkweed plants. There are over 100 species of native milkweeds in the USA; these provide an example of a symbiotic relationship with the Monarch. In the United States, there are two populations of Monarchs, those east of the Rocky Mountains and west of the Rockies. For the eastern United States population in 1995-96, overwintering monarchs covered nearly 45 acres of forest in Mexico, by 2021 that had dropped to 7 acres. The western United States population has declined from around ten million in the 1980’s to 250,000 in 2021.

This image is suitable for use in educational or interpretive exhibits, displays, Powerpoints, posters, social media, blog posts, a cover page, and classroom educational products. This photo can be printed at 300 DPI at 8" x 12”. It is a high resolution JPEG file.

I have taken all of the photographs listed. All photos are taken with Nikon cameras and lenses at 300 DPI. All photos of wildlife are taken in the wild with the utmost respect for the life we share this Earth with.
