Mansa Musa’s Journey to Mecca

The main goal of this lesson is for students to analyze sources to learn about what Mansa Musa and his journey to Mecca were like.

For the Activity, there are three different options, all based on a 6-document DBQ

Activity Option 1 - Mansa Musa DBQ

Students answer the comprehension and analysis questions based on the different documents

Activity Option 2 – Essential Question Activity

On a graphic organizer, students answer the essential questions using the DBQ. (Students can focus on anywhere from 1,2, or 3 of the questions)

· Describe what the Hajj was like:

· Describe the Impacts of Mansa Musa’s Hajj

Activity Option 3 – Agree/Disagree Activity

Using the documents, students decide whether they agree or disagree with each of the statements

This lesson has been adapted for digital learning. Students can use apps such as LuminPDF or Dochub to complete and submit the fillable PDF files.
