Description

This lesson can be suitable for any age group, although the examples provided in the student slideshow are from high school beginner ceramics students in grades 10-12. This product is meant to follow First Days of Clay, and is a great introduction to ceramics and its possibilities. You can certainly build an entire unit of pinch pots related projects by incorporating “Pinch Pot Trio”, “Double Pinch Pot Animals” and “Faberge Eggs”. This product is meant to build confidence with clay manipulation, using the score and slip method to attach clay, and finally to work within the confines of gravity by maintaining stability within their work by the means of added clay “feet”. Pinch pots are super versatile and this product encourages students to use monsters or animals as their design inspiration. The finished pieces in the slideshow are all meant to be planters, but you can alter the finished design any way you choose!
