Both Teachers & Students LOVE this Rubric!! It's a HUGE time-saver for Teachers dealing with LONG hours of Essay Grading! I designed/adapted this rubric for my students, shared it with colleagues, & it's been a real TIME and STRESS-saver for all of us, including the kids! Teachers LOVE it because students can use it as a checklist for evaluating the content of their own essay AND to save TONS of time by having pairs or small groups conduct peer evaluations of each others' essays! Most of the evaluation of the essays is done by the students and then your time is freed up for students who need extra help, or to put a final grade on the essay.

This is the perfect rubric (SO easy for kids to understand) in a checklist format that explains to your 6-11th graders what is required for them to get a passing score on their Informative/Explanatory Essays, for nearly EVERY State Writing Assessment.
