Description
In this product, you will find twelve pages of memory matching cards (in both black and white and color) of effective essay hooks. This can be used to solidify learning and build community in your classroom space.
When I first started teaching, one of the most difficult things for me in teaching writing was showing students how to write an effective hook. Everything I looked at seemed to have different information, and I had my students stuck in the elementary way of writing hooks: “Have you ever thought about (topic)? Well, let me tell you about it.” I needed help.
These ”Hook Your Readers” matching cards are designed to accompany my “Hook Your Readers” Interactive Slideshow. In this slide deck on Google Classroom, students can click through interactive features that teach them about six different types of writing hooks and provide plenty of examples.
If you are utilizing my slide deck in the classroom or have your own amazing way of teaching about writing hooks, these additional matching cards will help you.
In this product, you will find:
- Reference Sheet with Hook Types and Examples
- Twelve Color slides of effective hook memory matching cards
- Twelve Black and white slides of effective hook memory matching cards
I prefer to use these task cards on game days in my classroom. During this time, students are building community and collaboration skills, all while solidifying their learning.
