When I first started teaching, one of the most difficult things for me in teaching writing was showing students how to write an effective hook. Everything I looked at seemed to have different information, and I had my students stuck in the elementary way of writing hooks: “Have you ever thought about (topic)? Well, let me tell you about it.” I needed help!
