Description
With this standards-based short research task AND a digital media presentation project, your middle and high school students will be 100% engaged on Halloween.
Student Experience: Students will be assigned a myth from their state or from a state in the US. They will research and create a media presentation to share their findings. This type of assignment is very flexible and is 100% editable. It could be used to teach MLA and research, review MLA, conclude a unit on Dark Romantic or Gothic literature, or in a non ELA class looking to incorporate research on Halloween in a fun way. This is also a great assignment in gaining familiarity with literary and cultural figures so as to build students’ background knowledge of geography or culture which in turns makes recognizing allusions easier.
Suggestions for use are included, as well as are the student directions, rubrics, and CCSS. Included are the myths I chose to have my students research and links to other states' legends to make your job easier.
